About the project
Are animals free and sentient beings? Or are they nothing but consumer articles? We love some as members of our families and eat others without giving a thought about their existence and death. Why?
We try to ask these questions and offer an alternative. On different occasions, we screen films that don't show pictures of happy animals we know from advertisements but show the reality. We want people to see how animals are forced to live because of us and that this is by no means necessary. The Open Your Eyes project aims to expose one of the most painful problems of today's world – the exploitation of animals. Animals are not here for our taste buds, food, clothing or scientific research. Their lives don't belong to our needs. Yet we confine them into cages, we withold them anything natural, and we mutilate them physically and mentally. Once they grow to the slaughter weight, we brutally kill them on the slaughterline. We try to reveal the relationship between the practices of unlimited animal exploitation, which has become inseparable from our society, and our everyday choices. We believe that animal exploitation is the problem of the whole society and that each of us has the power to make a difference. We offer veganism as the alternative to the belief that we have the right to exploit living beings in any way to advance our interests. We ask for a reflection that is not easy. Please try to distance yourself from the traditions and positions of the majority and try to feel for a moment just for yourself. |
